A Pacoima woman was rescued by Los Angeles firefighters Sunday after she fell 20 feet into an empty cesspool, authorities said.
Rudy Esquivel, 26, fell into the cesspool in the 8500 block of North Cayuga Avenue about 12:45 p.m., said Pat Marek, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. The underground catch basin near Esquivel’s home had been opened by Los Angeles city workers for repairs, Marek said.
It was unclear how the accident occurred, he said.
Esquivel suffered minor injuries and was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
