GOLF ROUNDUP : Senior Leads in Australia by Three Shots

Australian Peter Senior took a three-stroke lead over Nick Faldo of Britain and Jeff Woodland of Australia by shooting his second 66 in the second round of the Australian Open on Friday at Melbourne.

First-round leader Curtis Strange and Mark Calcavecchia are four shots behind Senior at 136. Strange, the U.S. Open champion, followed his course record-tying first round of 65 on the 6,847-yard, par-72 Kingston Heath course with an inconsistent round of 71 that included seven birdies and six bogeys.

Calcavecchia, the British Open champion and defending Australian Open champion, added a 69 to his first round of 67.

Faldo shot a 67 in the second round to tie Woodland, who had a 69. Australian Greg Norman, seeking his fourth Australian Open title, followed his opening round of par 72 with a 70 and is 10 shots off the pace.

Kenny Perry, winless on the PGA tour, and Sherri Turner shot an 8-under-par 64 to share the lead with three other teams after the second round of the $1-million J.C. Penney tournament at Largo, Fla.

Also tied for first at 10-under 134 were Bill Britton-Donna White, who shot a 66 Friday; Andy Bean-Laura Davies (66); and Mike Hulbert-Val Skinner (67).
