Andre Ware, Houston’s junior quarterback, is the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy, according to a USA Today survey of 163, or 18%, of the Heisman voters. The winner will be announced Saturday.
West Virginia quarterback Major Harris, Indiana running back Anthony Thompson and Notre Dame quarterback Tony Rice trailed, in that order. Ware has set seven NCAA records this season and has a chance to set eight more Saturday in Houston’s final game against Rice.
