Sugar Import Quota Raised: Faced with rising domestic sugar prices stemming from tight supplies, Agriculture Secretary Clayton K, Yeutter announced a significant increase in the import quota for sugar. The 272,915-metric-ton increase, effective Monday, raises the total import quota to 2.25 million metric tons, raw value. The quota period, which remains unchanged, is from Jan. 1, 1989 through Sept. 30, 1990.
