Three Southern California prep basketball players have signed early letters of intent with Pepperdine: Rolling Hills High guard Steve Clover, North Hollywood High forward Dana Jones and Fairfax High guard Rodney Sanders.
Dick Kampmann, former University High School track and cross-country coach, has been named coach of the Pepperdine men’s and women’s cross-country teams. Kampmann, who coached at University for 26 years before retiring and is a physical education instructor at Pepperdine, replaces Kevin Steele, who resigned to go into business.
Peter Todd shot a 34 for nine holes to win the A flight at the Penmar Men’s Golf Club’s November tournament. Other flight winners and their gross scores: Bob Ziello, B, 33; Hank Rindenow, C, 36; Chuck Eskridge, D, 38, and Tom Soong, temporary handicaps, 34.
At the club’s 18-hole tournament at Vista Valencia, Paul Herrick won the A flight with a 73, Joe Soranno the B with an 86 and Frank Soracco the C with an 89.
