Frank Robinson, who guided the Baltimore Orioles to one of the biggest turnarounds in baseball history, was selected American League manager of the year.
He received 23 of 28 first-place votes and 125 points on a 5-3-1 basis from a panel chosen by the Baseball Writers’ Assn. of America. Doug Rader of the Angels finished fourth.
