The NHL Players Assn. called for the league to void a recent transaction involving goalie Pete Peeters and center Keith Acton, who were traded twice within a five-day span.
Three days before the Oct.2 waiver draft, the Philadelphia Flyers traded Peeters and Acton to the Winnipeg Jets for future considerations. They never reported to Winnipeg and were sent back to Philadelphia for a sixth-round pick.
While the Flyers maintain that the trades did not violate league rules, the union’s executive director, Alan Eagleson, called the trade a joke and demanded that Peeters and Acton be placed on waivers.
