Lowly Flyers Snap Rangers’ Unbeaten Streak at Eight
NEW YORK — Tim Kerr and Rick Tocchet scored second-period power-play goals as the Philadelphia Flyers snapped the New York Rangers’ eight-game unbeaten streak with a 3-1 victory Monday night.
The Flyers, who entered the game with the poorest record in the National Hockey League (2-7-1), also handed the Rangers their first home loss after four wins and three ties.
Despite the loss, the Rangers still have the NHL’s best record (8-2-3).
After Mark Howe had given the Flyers a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, Kerr and Tocchet scored in a 5:02 span late in the period to give Philadelphia a 3-0 lead.
