Live the Dream Upsets Bosphorus in Russell Handicap
Live the Dream got through on the rail and went on to win by a nose over favored Bosphorus in the $83,025 Henry P. Russell Handicap Saturday at Santa Anita’s Oak Tree meeting.
Carrying 110 pounds under Robbie Davis, Live the Dream ran the 1 1/4-mile distance on turf in 1:58 before a crowd of 33,015.
Bosphorus, carrying 116 pounds, was a length and a quarter ahead of Skip Out Front, with Gary Stevens.
Live the Dream, trained by Charlie Whittingham, paid $22.80, $6.60 and $3.80 as he earned $49,275 for the win.
Bosphorus, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, returned $3.20 and $2.40. Skip Out Front returned $2.40.
The second-place finish prevented Delahoussaye from riding four winners.
