A woman sought in the slaying of a Van Nuys woman with whom she frequently lived was arrested after a Los Angeles police officer spotted her car outside a bar, authorities said today.
Nancy Crue, 42, was arrested at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the bar in the 7200 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, said Lt. Warren Knowles.
Crue had been sought since Saturday, when firefighters found the burned body of Carol Hix, 39, in the bedroom of her apartment in the 15800 block of Vanowen Street, police said. Investigators determined that Hix had been shot before the fire was started in the apartment. Police said Crue is believed to have been the woman whom neighbors saw leave the apartment shortly before the fire was spotted.
Crue was arrested after Sgt. John Day spotted her car while on patrol on Sepulveda Boulevard. She was arrested without incident.
Crue was being held without bail on suspicion of murder at the Van Nuys Jail. Knowles said the motive for the slaying is unknown.
