More Office Supplies for State: Staples, a Boston-based office supply warehouse chain, said it will launch its first California store in Los Angeles next August and will open as many as 34 stores and a central processing and distribution center in the state by 1993. Staples, which currently operates 36 stores in nine states, said it expects the expansion to reduce expected earnings in fiscal 1991 but will contribute to earnings after that.
