Montclair Prep 21, Bassett 0--Cousins Derek Sparks and Leland Sparks each ran for a touchdown at Bassett in La Puente, and the Mounties’ defense posted its second consecutive shutout.

Michael Jones (92 yards in 17 carries) opened the scoring with a one-yard first-quarter run. Derek Sparks, who rushed for a game-high 125 yards in 16 carries, scored on a 73-yard run in the second quarter, and Leland Sparks scored from three yards on a quarterback sneak on the first play of the fourth quarter. Montclair Prep (4-0) outgained Bassett (2-2), 258-169.

Bassett running back Marshawn Thompson, a member of The Times’ Terrific 22, was limited to 66 yards in 20 carries.
