THE SIDELINES : GOP Official Reported NFL Finalist

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York state Republican Chairman J. Patrick Barrett is a finalist in the search to replace Pete Rozelle as NFL commissioner, according to a broadcast report.
Barrett, 52, wasn’t immediately available for comment this morning on the ESPN report broadcast Wednesday.
The other finalists are reportedly New Orleans Saints President Jim Finks, NFL lawyer Paul Tagliabue, New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority Chairman Robert Mulcahy, Southeastern Conference Chairman Harvey Schiller and former Green Bay Packer Willie Davis. However, Schiller today said he has not been contacted about the job.
