WASHINGTON — The Bush Administration said today it plans to sell Saudi Arabia $485 million in maintenance services and equipment to improve the country’s 58 F-15 fighter jets.
U.S. Defense officials said the work, to be provided by McDonnell Douglas Corp., will include a more reliable navigation system and new air-conditioning equipment to cool the fighters’ avionics.
“This does not increase the combat capability of the planes. It doesn’t upgrade weapons delivery or anything like that,” said Air Force Capt. Matt Durham.
