‘Good Work in Sacramento’
I refer to your editorial “Good Work in Sacramento,” in which you praise the Legislature and governor for their joint efforts during the closing days of this year’s legislative session.
Good work? Los Angeles County is forced to close two out-patient mental health clinics because no funds were made available to keep them open. This, in addition to three clinics already closed during this summer.
Many thousands of unfortunate individuals will have no place to turn for help to alleviate their stress. Many carry a burden they cannot bear alone. Some will wind up in overcrowded county psychiatric hospitals. Others will go to jails; and many more will end up in the gutters of our streets. “Good work in Sacramento?” Indeed!
