Fountain Valley : Burglary Suspect Jailed After Chase by Residents
A 31-year-old man was arrested when several neighbors chased him and another suspect following a garage burglary in Fountain Valley.
Larry E. Oliver, a transient, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with the burglary, Fountain Valley Police Lt. Mike Hanrahan said. He was taken to Orange County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000. Police are still searching for the second suspect.
A resident on Verbena Court, part of the Windsor Square condominium complex at Harbor Boulevard and Lilac Avenue, told police that he spotted a man passing stereo equipment from a garage over a wall to a second man.
As the police were called, the resident and several neighbors chased the two men. Police caught Oliver near Harbor Boulevard, where he was still running from several residents, Hanrahan said. Oliver apparently had been tired out by the chase, he said.
“They did a heck of a job,†Hanrahan said of the residents.
The second suspect, who was unarmed, escaped in a pickup truck with a camper on the back.
