John Smith of Stillwater, Okla., won a second gold medal for the United States on the final day of the World Freestyle Championships at Martigny, Switzerland.
Smith successfully defended his title in the 136.5-pound class by defeating Gary Bohay of Canada, 6-0.
Makharbek Khadartsev of the Soviet Union, defended his title in the 198-pound category with a 3-0 victory over U.S. wrestler Jim Scherr. Elmady Zhabraylov of the Soviet Union won the 180.5-pound gold medal by beating Melvin Douglas of the United States, 4-3.
