China Deputy Governor Fired for Bribery

BEIJING — A deputy governor of China’s northwestern frontier region of Xinjiang has been fired for taking bribes, the most senior official to fall victim to a recent crackdown on corruption, according to an official report Friday.
State television said Tohti Sabir, a 56-year-old ethnic Uighur, was dismissed for accepting more than $4,300, a refrigerator and a wool carpet.
