Howard Reappointed to State Coastal Panel
Burbank City Councilwoman Mary Lou Howard has been reappointed to the 12-member state Coastal Commission by the state Senate Rules Committee, officials announced Wednesday.
The reappointment was effective in May. Howard, 52, was first appointed to the commission in May, 1987.
Howard also represents the commission on the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
The state Coastal Act directs the commission to balance development interests and protection of the coast as it reviews coast development permits.
Howard was first elected to the Burbank council in 1979 and is in the middle of her third four-year term.
