A New Season on the Horizon
On average, fewer than one in five viewers watched the prime-time programming on CBS or ABC last week, according to figures released Tuesday by the A.C. Nielsen Co. Each network accounted for only 18% of the prime-time viewing, while 21% of the audience was watching NBC, which placed six shows among the Top 10 and recorded its 62nd consecutive weekly victory. * With the new TV season less than three weeks away, NBC also got a boost with the performance of the pilot for its new series “Baywatch.†In its second airing, the movie about lifeguards attracted viewers in nearly 13.3 million homes to rank as the eighth most-watched program of the week. The series premieres Sept. 22.
