Anaheim : Coast Guard to Begin Celebrating 200th Year
The U.S. Coast Guard drill team will spin, flip and toss rifles fitted with bayonets at Disneyland today to open the bicentennial celebration of the service.
In the performance, which will begin at 11:30 a.m., the 20 members of the team will pass 1903 Springfield rifles to one another while standing in formation.
The Coast Guard, which began in New England in 1790, will be celebrating most of next year, Coast Guard officials said.
After the Disneyland performance, the drill team will travel to Las Vegas for the Veterans of Foreign Wars parade Sunday.
