Lyme Disease Foundation Opens Headquarters

TOLLAND, Conn. — A foundation that assists people afflicted with Lyme disease opened a new national headquarters Sunday.
The Lyme Borreliosis Foundation, established in March, 1988, by Karen Forschner, who has the disease, opened its new office with a ceremony and the acceptance of a $10,000 corporate donation.
Sunday was the first day of National Lyme Disease Awareness Week, set aside in a congressional resolution to be observed annually, officials said.
Lyme disease is an arthritis-like ailment spread by ticks.
