HAMILTON, Bermuda — Prisoners at Bermuda’s top-security Casemates prison have been restricted to one shower a week beginning Friday as drought conditions threaten the west Atlantic island.
Rainfall for 1989 so far stands at only 18 inches, significantly below the usual average of more than 28 inches at this time of year.
The restriction on the 165 prisoners in the crumbling Victorian prison covers all except those on outside work parties or who have duties in the kitchens.
