Anchors Away II: Carroll to KHJ
Reporter Larry Carroll has become the second KABC-TV newsman in the last two weeks to turn in his Channel 7 lapel pin for a future with Disney-owned KHJ-TV Channel 9.
Carroll will be an anchor/reporter and will figure in Channel 9’s expanded news plans, as does his former KABC associate, Jerry Dunphy who jumped ship July 7.
However, unlike Dunphy, Carroll will begin reporting for his new station Aug. 1. KHJ’s three-hour prime-time newscast is slated to begin in January.
Blake Byrne, KHJ president and general manager, said Friday that “we’re still too much in the planning stage” to specify Carroll’s role in the three-hour news block.
