Bottle Deposits

Agreeing with Joseph Trepiak’s letter (June 22) regarding bottle deposits, I would like to add that in Denmark the bottle deposit is a lot higher, about 30% of the purchase, which in most cases is about 25-35 cents. 95% of the bottles are returned by the original buyer, and the rest by youngsters seeking a supplement to their pocket money. It may seem like a lot of money but it is really only a one-time investment.

Handy 24-bottle plastic cases are available which hold both soda and beer bottles (same deposit price). These cases are easy to handle and stacks neatly, which makes it easy and convenient for both the consumer and the store.
