Local Team Finishes Third in Junior Golf

Tracy DuPre of Newport Beach and partner Stephanie Martin of Camarillo faltered Saturday on the final day of the La Paloma Junior Golf Championships in Tucson, Ariz.
Shooting a 81-86 (nine and 14 over par), DuPre and Martin fell from first to third in the girls’ 12-18 division, won by Tina Trimble and Kim Self of Houston.
In the boys’ 15-18 division, Joon Lee of Fullerton and teammate Jean-Paul Hebert of Houston finished fourth, 10 strokes behind winners Trip Kehne and Justin Leonard of Dallas. Mike Bestor of Laguna Niguel and teammate Austin Maki of Costa Mesa finished 25th, 37 strokes back.
In the boys’ 12-14 division, Ben and Joe Garner of El Toro finished fifth, 25 strokes behind winners Hank Kuehne and Brian Newton of Texas.
