Two brothers have been charged in Santa Cruz County with the murder of a 19-year-old friend whose dismembered remains were found at two locations there in February. John Kelly Jones, 20, and Lance Christopher Jones, 19, also are accused of conspiracy in the death of Michael Edward Palmer, who moved from Texas with the brothers last year. John Jones and the victim worked together as security guards. The brothers were fugitives from Texas, according to Santa Cruz County Dist. Atty. Art Danner. The motive for the killing has not been determined, he said.
