Arson Blamed in Saticoy Warehouse Blaze

Saticoy’s second toxic fire in six weeks, which engulfed a warehouse full of plastic rolls used to cover strawberry fields, was ignited by an arsonist, according to an official from the Ventura County Fire Department.
The Sunday evening fire at Tri Cal was “definitely an arson fire” because there were no electrical appliances or volatile materials in the corrugated-metal and wood-framed shed that burned, Chief Larry Titus said this week.
Sheriff’s deputies ordered the surrounding area evacuated, but it is unclear how many people left.
“Initially, neighbors shouted that there were pesticides in the building, then someone told the Sheriff’s Department that pesticides had been moved to another building,” Titus said.
