NBC and Freedom Bowl officials have signed a multiyear agreement to televise the postseason football game as part of its New Year’s weekend lineup.
The game, played since 1984 in Anaheim Stadium, produced a National Collegiate Athletic Assn. bowl-game record in its first year when Iowa’s Chuck Long threw six touchdown passes, and again in 1986 when Gaston Green of UCLA rushed for 266 yards.
