The Chargers on Monday released running back Curtis Adams and rookie safety Shawn Hicks, who attended Kearny High and Mesa College.

The Chargers drafted Adams out of Central Michigan in the eighth round of the 1985 draft. His best year with the club came in 1986, when he rushed for 366 yards and four touchdowns in 118 carries.

Wendy Macpherson of San Diego bowled a 288 in her final game of qualifying in the third round of the Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour’s Fair Lanes Denver tournament to move from seventh to second, six pins behind leader Leanne Barrete heading into today’s match-play competition.
