Japanese Firm Joins Developer of Landmark Square

Developers of the Landmark Square project have linked themselves with a Japanese firm, becoming the fourth major joint venture among downtown Long Beach redevelopment projects.

Cushman Investment & Development Corp. has joined with Asahi Development (USA) Corp. of Tokyo to build the $100-million tower at Pine Avenue and Ocean Boulevard.

The developers of Shoreline Square and the World Trade Center and the company converting the old Breakers Hotel into a retirement home also have had Japanese partners. Cushman Chairman John C. Cushman III said that Long Beach now has the fourth largest amount of Japanese real estate investment among all U.S. cities.
