Southern Section Tennis Playoffs : Camarillo Doubles Team Does the Job in Singles

Peter Moraweicki and Steve Stukovsky, better known for their accomplishments in doubles, demonstrated ability as singles players Tuesday as Camarillo High polished off visiting Nordhoff, 15-3, in the first round of the 4-A Division playoffs.
Moraweicki and Stukovsky, doubles champions of the Ojai tennis tournament two weeks ago, each swept three singles matches as the sixth-seeded and Marmonte League champion Scorpions ran their record to 18-0.
Moraweicki, Camarillo’s No. 1 singles player who has committed to Texas El Paso, defeated Jim Wilson, 6-1, Jason Beach, 6-2, and Ranger Craver, 6-1. Stukovsky defeated Wilson, Beach and Craver, all by scores of 6-0.
Brian Giffin, Camarillo’s No. 3 player, defeated Wilson, 6-2, Beach, 6-0, and Craver, 6-2.
In doubles, Camarillo’s Julien Heine and Mark Ellis recorded wins over Eddie Crosen and Chris Logan, 6-3, Justin Petticord and Dugan Beach, 6-2, and Ryan Olson and Brian Fleming, 6-1.
Twins Sean and Dan Osso of Camarillo lost to Crosen and Logan, 5-7, then defeated Petticord and Beach, 7-6 (7-2).
Camarillo’s Jonas White and Ryan Seacord defeated Olson and Fleming, 6-4.
In other 4-A matches:
Westlake 9, Long Beach Wilson 9 (Westlake advances on games, 76-72)--Kane Lai, Buddy Turl and David Lieu each won two of three singles matches for the Warriors (12-4) at Wilson.
In doubles, Craig Campbell and Brian Sheffer of Westlake recorded wins over Tom Hines and Jess Aiken, 6-1, and Hein Phan and Manny Mann, 6-3, before losing to Garrett Stolle and Phil McCaffrety, 4-6.
3-A DIVISION
Burbank 10, Glendale 8--Tom McDonald won two of three singles matches to lead the host Bulldogs.
McDonald, who plays No. 1 singles, defeated Martin Escos, 7-5, and Alan Harootunian, 6-1.
The doubles teams of Chuck Lockman and Jin Choi and John Kim and Peter Hou each won two of three sets for the Bulldogs (18-4). Escos won two singles matches to lead Glendale (17-4).
