Chief of Veterans Panel Chosen to Head FTC

WASHINGTON — President Bush has announced his selection of Janet Dempsey Steiger, a longtime friend and the chairwoman of the national Commission on Veterans Educational Policy, to be chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. If confirmed by the Senate, she would succeed Daniel Oliver.
