World : Solidarity Reports Bugging Device

WARSAW — Solidarity, fighting its first parliamentary election campaign in Communist-ruled Poland, said today that it found an electronic bugging device in a regional election headquarters.
“It’s not a Watergate,” Solidarity official Jacek Moskwa told reporters of the discovery Tuesday in the northern city of Slupsk. But he said authorities at first refused to investigate the bugging. “We informed the prosecutor and police but they refused to investigate. We notified the Interior Ministry overnight,” Moskwa told a news conference.
But the police began investigating this morning after Solidarity contacted the ministry.
