IN BRIEF : Reds’ Eric Davis on Disabled List
CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds today placed star outfielder Eric Davis on the 15-day disabled list because of a leg injury and promoted outfielder Rolando Roomes from the Nashville farm team to replace him.
Davis, 26, injured his left hamstring muscle in Tuesday night’s 6-4 loss to the Expos in Montreal. Davis is batting .238 with six home runs and 18 runs batted in.
The Reds also said that Manager Pete Rose was returning to Cincinnati today at the request of team doctor Warren Harding to be examined. Rose, 48, missed Cincinnati’s two games in Montreal because of a fever and a cold.
