AMR to Order Commuter Planes: The parent of American Airlines confirmed published reports that it will order up to 100 commuter aircraft to equip its regional airlines. The airline company, based at Dallas-Ft. Worth airport, is reportedly leaning toward the Swedish manufacturer Saab for the order, although the airline is still evaluating different aircraft types. AMR said it will place firm orders in a few weeks for 50 36-seat turboprop aircraft with an option for purchase of an additional 50.
