NAMES IN THE NEWS : Trump Calls for Death to Muggers

The rape and beating of a woman jogger in Central Park by a wolf pack of teen-agers prompted real estate billionaire Donald Trump to spend $85,000 on full-page newspaper advertisements today calling for the death penalty for such crimes.
Trump, who has a long-running feud with Mayor Edward I. Koch on the quality of life in New York, said the Central Park attack was just another sign of growing lawlessness in the city and he disputed Koch’s call to remove “hate and rancor from our hearts.”
“I want to hate these muggers and murderers. They should be forced to suffer and, when they kill, they should be executed for their crimes,” Trump said in his ads published in the New York Times, the News, the Post and Newsday.
The woman who was raped in the park has been in a coma since the April 19 attack.
