SportScope : Dodgers to Hold Free Youth Clinic at Torrance Park

Several Dodgers will conduct a free baseball clinic Saturday at Wilson Park in Torrance. The clinic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is open to youths of all ages. An autograph session is planned. For more information call the Torrance Recreation Department at 618-2930.

Southern California Over-the-Line and Slo-Two-Pitch Softball have openings for tournaments in May. A variety of divisions are offered in both. For two-pitch softball teams there is a fee of $160. Teams play a minimum of three games. In over-the-line competition, the cost per team is $33 and four games are guaranteed. For more information call 866-8685.

Laura Stamm, power skating instructor to the pros, will conduct a summer clinic at Bay Harbor Olympic Ice Arena on July 14-16. Applications for the clinic are being accepted at $90. She has worked with professional hockey teams and is the author of three books on power skating.

Nine members of the San Pedro and Peninsula YMCA swim team competed in the organization’s national championships in Florida recently. They were Glenn Posada (Redondo Beach), Jackie Brajevik (San Pedro), Laura Clavadetscher and Deborah Kory (Rolling Hills), Bruce Jones (Torrance), Zoltan Gyurko (Rancho Palos Verdes), Claudine Martinez (Carson), Roy Elliot (Manhattan Beach) and Alisa Scudamore (Palos Verdes Estates).
