Family Dedicated to Firm

The Times article about Ducommun Inc. (“Ducommun: Final Chapter for State’s Oldest Company?†April 17) created the unfortunate and inaccurate impression that the Ducommun family has been aloof and has not responded to the calamity that sent the company into a tailspin.

My family has worked closely and purposefully with the other members of the board of directors to induce the changes required to revive the company. And as a family we remain dedicated to restoring Ducommun to the levels of profitability that its shareholders and employees deserve and to the prominence that it had earned through many years of service to the Los Angeles community.

With all due respect, our position and actions are conditioned by principle, our sense of responsibility to the company’s employees, its shareholders and the communities in which it operates. We do not stand on the self-indulgent, prefabricated notion of “wealth†that was ascribed to us at the end of your article.
