Iowa State won the 6,400-meter relay for the third consecutive year and, and the women’s 800 relay produced collegiate and American records at the 80th Drake Relays at Des Moines.
The Cyclones won at 6,400 meters in 16 minutes 14.08 seconds as anchor John Nuttall finished 100 meters ahead of Louisiana State’s Robin Van Helden.
The Texas Southern team of Linda Eseimokumoh, Beatrice Utondu, Dyan Webber and Mary Onyali ran to a collegiate record of 1:31.96 in the 800 relay. But because three of Texas Southern’s runners are from Nigeria, second-place LSU claimed the U.S. record in 1:32.57.
Cal Poly Pomona was the college division winner in the men’s 3,200-meter relay in 7:34.75.
