2 Men Ordered to Stand Trial in Child Porno Case
A former assistant Boy Scout master and a Santa Ana man have been ordered to stand trial on felony charges of conspiracy to produce and distribute child pornography as part of a ring allegedly headed by a former Roman Catholic priest.
David Negrette, 26, of Westminster, who was with a Huntington Beach Scout troop until about a year ago, and Jerry Houchens, 49, will be arraigned today in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Police say the ring sexually molested boys in Ensenada and videotaped the acts for distribution to others.
Police are still looking for John Bauer, 52, the former priest, and Rosemead handyman Victor Feliciano, 29. Bauer is believed to have fled the country, according to Los Angeles Police Detective Sgt. Ralph Bennett.
A Baja California man testified at the preliminary hearing that Houchens rented an Ensenada apartment in 1987 and that he often saw boys 9 to 13 years old going inside. Detective Bill Dworin testified that tapes found in Negrette’s mobile home showed boys engaged in sex with each other as well as with Bauer and Negrette.
Houchens is in Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail. Negrette is being held with bail set at $150,000.
