Lopez, Baeza Meet in Lightweight Bout in Irvine

Lightweights Benny Lopez of Upland and Armando Baeza of Norwalk oppose each other tonight in the 10-round main event of the monthly boxing program at the Irvine Marriott.

Lopez (13-1) will be making his first appearence in a main event. He knocked out Chango Moreno in the second round March 23 at Irvine to earn a spot in tonight’s main event. He has eight knockouts. Baeza (12-3-1) has fought in and won two main events at Irvine.

Richard Aguirre (14-3) takes on Jose Luis Bedoya (10-1) at 154 pounds in the eight-round semi-main event.

John Armijo of Huntington Beach takes on Kola Heava of Riverside in a five-round lightweight bout. The first of six scheduled fights starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today in the hotel’s grand ballroom.
