A fifth and final suspect has been arrested after surrendering to police in the death of an 11-year-old girl who was caught in the line of fire of a gang shooting, authorities said Tuesday.

The 16-year-old gang member, believed to be one of two triggermen in the Feb. 25 drive-by shooting, was with his attorney when he surrendered Monday night at the Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Division station, Detective Jim McCann said. The youth, whose name was withheld because of his age, was held on suspicion of murder.

He is the last of five youths to be arrested in the killing of Jasmine Guevara and wounding of her aunt as they and Jasmine’s 14-year-old sister walked into the line of the gang’s gunfire near their home in the Pico-Union area.

Police said the girls and the aunt had bought popcorn to eat while watching a video program and were walking home from a store when a car with four gang members drove by and opened fire on rivals standing nearby.

Arrested previously were a 15-year-old suspected of being the other gunman, two 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old.

“We have been in touch with his family and let them know that we knew about his involvement,†McCann said of the fifth youth. “We were quite determined to get these people.â€
