The Houston Astros have signed 1986 Cy Young Award winner Mike Scott to a two-year contract extension worth a guaranteed $3.925 million.

Scott, who will earn $1.3 million in 1989, the final year of a two-year contract, will have a base salary of $1.95 million in 1990 and 1991. He will also get a $25,000 signing bonus, according to terms agreed upon Monday.

Scott will make an additional $450,000 if he pitches 205 innings or makes 32 starts in each of the 1989 and 1990 seasons. The contract contains additional bonuses for making the All-Star team and for finishing first, second or third in Cy Young Award voting. If he earns all available bonuses, Scott would earn $5.125 million during the extension.

Scott has a 66-39 record over the past four seasons since developing the split-fingered fastball that allowed him to lead the majors in 1986 with 306 strikeouts.
