The Soviet Union won the World Cup freestyle wrestling tournament, although the United States won the dual meet between the countries, 19-18.
The Soviets won the overall title because they scored more total points in the five-nation tournament at Toledo, Ohio. They had 117 points. The U.S. finished second with 109. Cuba was third with 60 points, Canada fourth (44) and Korea fifth (39 1/2).
