The New York Yankees announced that shortstop Rafael Santana will miss the entire season after undergoing elbow surgery.
Santana underwent reconstruction of his right elbow Thursday in Los Angeles.
Santana, 31, batted .240 with 38 runs batted in last season. The Yankees also said Don Mattingly is undergoing a series of studies because of lower back pains. His status is day-to-day.
