U. S. Border Patrol agents seized 200 pounds of marijuana Thursday and Friday in separate actions north of Oceanside and in the South Bay, authorities said.
In the first seizure, 155 pounds of marijuana worth $77,500 were found Thursday during a check of a car at 4:40 p.m. at the checkpoint north of Oceanside on Interstate 5, said Gene Smithburg, assistant chief patrol agent for San Diego.
Three Mexican citizens in the car were found to be in the United States lawfully, Smithburg said.
In the second seizure Friday, agents found 45 pounds of marijuana worth $22,500 in the trunk of a car during a search for undocumented aliens.
The driver, a Mexican citizen, is a legalization applicant, Smithburg said.
