Local News in Brief : Newport Beach : Group to Leave Saturday for French Sister City
A 32-citizen delegation will leave Saturday for Antibes, France--home of the largest luxury yachts in the world and Newport Beach’s new sister city.
Members of the Newport Beach Sister City Assn. will meet with French officials to work out their cultural, educational and entrepreneurial exchange program, which was formed in September.
The group will pay its own way on the 10-day trip, said JoLyn Wayne, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach group.
Members of the association include Newport Beach Council members Ruthelyn Plummer and Evelyn Hart; Fire Chief James Reed; Newport Beach Parks, Beaches and Recreation director Ron Whitley and Newport Beach Sister City Assn. president Wendell Fish.
Antibes, a city of 80,000 on the southern coast of France, is considered the rose capital of Europe.
