Former Venezuela Official Sentenced for Drugs, Arms

CARACAS, Venezuela — A Venezuelan court handed ex-Congressman Hermocrates Castillo a near-maximum sentence of 29 years and eight months for drug and arms trafficking, a police spokesman said Saturday.
Castillo, a former deputy for the small Opina Party, was sentenced Friday. He was arrested a year ago in possession of more than 11 pounds of cocaine as well as weapons and forged money.
