Drive-By Slaying Leads to Arrest of Two Suspects

Two suspects were arrested Friday shortly after a drive-by shooting left a youth dead, police said.
Marvin Dwayne Stancil and Lloyd Baker, both 18, are being held in County Jail on suspicion of murder.
Demetrius E. Wallace, 17, was with some friends at 54th and Olive streets at 7:49 p.m. when a gray Mitsubishi pickup truck passed by, heading north on 54th Street.
According to authorities, Wallace and his friends got into an argument with two men in a pickup truck. The truck left the site but later returned, and its passengers allegedly fired a volley of shots at Wallace’s group, police said. The truck went north on 54th Street.
Wallace, who was struck in the head, was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m.
